Hey everyone.. 🙂
With the new year eve almost here, the excitement is reaching a new pace. Everyone is looking forward to bidding adieu to 2016 by throwing a grand party full of music, food , dance, drinks and lots more. We all love parties but none of us is fond of the gassy and bloated mess that follow an overindulgent meal (paneer tikka as starter, cheese burst pizza as main course followed by desert and drinks). All that excess in the form of carbs, fat, salt, sugar and alcohol can leave you feeling bloated, tired , hungry and guilty. The reason for this is alcohol that dehydrates your body. In addition, restaurant dishes tend to have an increased amount of salt in their meals, which over all dries out your muscles and body.
So what should you do ??
Here are some ways to help you detox from the party binge and start your new years resolution
form the very first day.
Drink, Drink, Drink !
Fluids are the key since extra salt, sugar and alcohol dehydrates your body.
Water – Have lots of water, it will help you flush out the toxins from your system , will fasten digestion and will reduce bloating.
Green Tea – Rich in antioxidants, green tea is ideal in many ways to be had in the morning following an overindulgent meal evening.
Peppermint or Black Tea – These are antispasmodic teas (meaning that they release muscle tension in digestive tract and will aid in the release of gas through your body). They are also caffeine free and will add to your water intake.
Coconut Water – This is particularly helpful if you are overindulging in alcohol. If you have multiple round of old monk and scotch, have multiple round of coconut water the following day. It is rich in antioxidants and electrolytes like potassium. Both of which you need for getting over a hangover. Potassium will also help fight bloating after an evening full of salty snacks.
Eat water rich fruits.
Fruits rich in water such as water melon, strawberries, pineapples and cantaloupes are very effective in two fold way – first they contain a lot of water which helps you detoxify and second they are rich in fibre which aids digestion. These fruits will also restore the vitamins and minerals your body needs to kick start a day.
Shake it up
Make yourself a banana milkshake in the morning. The banana calms your stomach, while the milk soothe. The fruit is also rich in electrolytes, magnesium and potassium, all nutrients that are depleted during heavy drinking and eating. You can also add a touch of honey to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Have oats and eggs in breakfast
Oat Meal – This is one of the smartest breakfast option if you want something rich in fibre yet light on stomach.
Vegetable Omelette – Eggs are rich in high quality proteins and amino acids that help breakdown alcohol toxins. Also adding vegetables like spinach, peas, broccoli and tomatoes to the omelette will make it helpful in digestion and debloating.
Sweat out your Hangover
Even though you might not feeling like running a marathon, exercise will help rid your body of the toxins that were in all of those cocktails. Also increased circulation gets blood and oxygen to where your body needs it most – Your BRAIN.
