Rajasthan is famous for its rich and prolific art treasures. Some of its architectural monuments are considered among the best in the world. The Ranakpur Jain Temple excels them all as an exquisite work of art and architecture. There are a number of beautiful and delicately carved sculptures in this shrine which defy comparison. The temple is an eloquent testimony to India’s cultural heritage, her unique architecture and the vision and acumen of her past master artists.
The most outstanding feature of this temple is its 1444 number of pillars, all of them have different carings. Also from any corner of the temple one can easily view the Lord’s image. The domes and ceiling of this temple are replete with innumerable carvings depicting famous incidents from the past. The artists have given them life and movement with the magic touch of their chisels. The stone-slabs depicting sahastrafana (a cobra with thousand hoods) Parshwanath and sahasrakuta are equally impressive. The three other Jain temples in the same complex Parsavanath temple, Neminath temple and Surya Narayan temple.
Beauty of this temple is hard to describe in words so for you all I tried to capture through my camera.. have a look.. 🙂
Apart from its architectural beauty, journey from Kumbhalgarh to Ranakpur is full of amazing experience. Road will give you the feeling of roller coaster ride with one side mountain and another side valley. Scenic beauty is no less than Uttrakhand and Himachal pradesh.
